Halifax 2011 Canada Winter Games
Posted by Dean Gallant in 2011 Canada Games, brochures on July 10th, 2009
I’ve been hired as Graphic Design/Web Coordinator for the Halifax 2011 Canada Winter Games host society. There is a ton of design work to be done in preparation for the Games in February 2011. If you look around Halifax, you will notice signs that I’ve designed at the event venues, on the commons, etc.. I’ve also got a video on the Metro Centre outdoor screen. It’s exciting to be involved in such a huge and public project!
I’ll be doing a wide variety of work including event publications, handbooks, marketing materials, PLENTY of signage and wayfinding. There are so many signs to be produced that we’re actually creating our own temporary sign fabrication shop for about a year.
It’s interesting work. Everything we publish needs to be bilingual which is a new challenge for me. The logo & graphic standards were developed by Extreme Group (our agency of record) and they continue to be involved in the ongoing marketing & design.
Here’s one of the first major pieces I produced:

I’ve got a new website and a new home! We’ve just moved into a new house a few weeks ago in Hatchet Lake. Very happy and excited to be back in Halifax.
