Clean Temple Wellness Studio
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, logos/identity, recent work, web design on February 9th, 2012
Located in a historic building in Downtown Halifax, Clean Temple Wellness Studio offers a nutrition based approach to achieving optimal health during all stages of life. Their services include nutrition & lifestyle consultations, weight-loss, workshops in cleansing, detoxification, digestion & candida elimination.
Pinwheel was tasked with developing the brand identity including logo, cards, brochures, office documents, signage, and the web presence for this new business. The studio is run by Holistic Nutritional Consultant Anne Pryde—who also happens to be my lovely and amazing wife!
The imagery we developed for the Clean Temple logo brings to mind ideas of growth & renewal, health & vibrancy, a supportive community and nature & balance. It was important that the overall presentation of this identity be professional, clean and somewhat medical, while maintaining a welcoming, open and down-to-earth appeal.
At it’s core, this business is all about food. Helping people to make healthier & more informed food choices, alleviating symptoms that are caused by what we eat, sharing a love of cooking & good eating, and supporting the many quality local providers here in Nova Scotia.
This is a great thing. And, I’m excited for a long life of fantastic healthy eating.

Halifax Biomedical Brochure
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, recent work on December 22nd, 2011
I’ve been doing a fair amount of work for Halifax Biomedical Inc. over the last few months—technical manuals, business cards, a presentation template, a trade show display unit and this Brochure.
It’s a letter size single fold handout. I was supplied with 3d models and renderings of the products they offer, which I modified to create the illustrations below.
Voluntary Sector Professional Capacity Trust
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, recent work on May 17th, 2011
The Government of Nova Scotia has established a Voluntary Sector Professional Capacity Trust and I was contacted to design an info sheet and application form for the program. This trust is open to Non-Profit and Voluntary sector organizations in the province and will fund training and capacity needs for the organizations’ paid staff.
With several years of personal experience working for various organizations in this sector, I understand the challenges faced and the dedication of the staff. This is something I can definitely get behind.
Performance Genomics – HerdLife ProfitBooster
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, print ads, recent work on March 25th, 2011
We produced a new three panel brochure and print ad this month for local research company Performance Genomics. The company is using genetic research to improve herd life and reproductive performance of livestock.
The recent designs continue the established clean, professional, easy to read, yet scientific aestetic.
Compagnie Marie Chouinard

Doing some spring cleaning the other day, I found this brochure for a dance series from 2003 put on by Halifax based not-for-profit Live Art Dance Productions. This was early design work of mine, but looks mature and still seems fresh. This was a true two colour offset print process, using only blue and black ink on white stock—a rarity nowadays where digital printing is so cost effective.
What really makes this, though, is the striking photo provided by the dance company from Montreal.
MilAero

Some recent work for a new client, MilAero. They are a local company specializing in the manufacture and integration of high performance electrical assemblies. MilAero had an established logo (which I quite like) and look and feel. I was engaged to design two pop-up banners and a brochure/handout for an upcoming industry trade-show. The results below.
Mediscribe brochure
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, recent work on July 9th, 2010
A single card brochure for a local company. Mediscribe is a leading provider of transcription and workflow management services for physicians and healthcare providers. I’ll also likely be designing a website in the near future.
Souris Historic Lighthouse brochure
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, recent work on February 18th, 2010
This is the very beginning of an exciting new project. The old lighthouse in Souris, PEI (currently unused) has been renovated by the local harbour authority and will be re-opened this summer as an interpretive centre & gift/craft shop. I’ve been hired to work on the identity, signage, advertising & what I’m most excited about—the interpretation! The plan is to have exterior reading signs & an exhibit room on the top floor with displays, video, artifacts & stories.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love interpretive signs so you can understand my excitement.
Performance Genomics. Cows & DNA.
Posted by Dean Gallant in brochures, recent work on January 12th, 2010
I was referred an interesting job over the Christmas holiday from my friend Susan Corning in Truro. It was to design a brochure for a Nova Scotia company called Performance Genomics.
They are using genetic research to improve herd life and reproductive performance of livestock.
Interesting stuff, with diagrams that I don’t pretend to understand. But I feel like I succeeded in creating a clean, professional, easy to read, yet scientific presentation. And they were very easy to work with.
