CBC Marketplace – Guess That Price!
Posted by Dean Gallant in CBC, recent work, web design on February 11th, 2013
Here is a really fun project I got to work on for CBC’s Marketplace. They wanted an interactive game to compliment a recent episode of the show called Price Tag Confidential where they investigated the real reasons we (Canadians) pay more than Americans for everything.
For this project, I worked with another developer from Regina (Andre Mougeot) – and we designed the game together with input from the Marketplace team. I did most of the front-end design/development work as my contribution.
2011 Canada Games athlete cutouts
Posted by Dean Gallant in 2011 Canada Games, recent work, various on February 19th, 2010
I designed some freestanding athlete cutouts for the Halifax 2011 Canada Games. These were created for the volunteer kick-off and one year to go countdown celebrations over the last week. We produced ten each of the three versions. The gold signs are attached by velcro so they can be easily replaced with current, relevant messaging.
Advocate did the printing & production and I think they look great. The cut was achieved with a laser-guided drill over a path I defined (similar to a die cut job). A first for me.
The cutouts were seen all over town, at the World Trade Centre, in the Scotia Square food court, the ferry terminals & malls. And they’ll be used over the next year at our various public events and—of course—during the Games next winter.
